Mothers Day Activity,Carters's Deal

Mothers Day is this weekend. I found this very interesting activity for mothers day.It is a studio called Color Me Mine where you can paint your own ceramic pieces like vases, flower pots, bowls, plates and much more. Then they fire it in their kiln , and you can have a cool treasure to keep. I am thinking of getting the kids hand prints on a fruit bowl or something similar. They have lots of design ideas. They are located all over USA and also have studios internationally. Click on this link to see a location nearest to you.Go to your particular location and click on the promotions tab to see if they have any in your area. For example in my location they have a special Mothers Day "no sitting fee promotion " this whole weekend.

Another Mother's Day Activity at Borders(Free)
May 09, 2009 2:00 PM
Check your location at their website to see if they have an event going on at your local Borders.

What makes your mom special? Come to the party and tell us! We'll celebrate with a storytime, crafts, and more. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or other legal guardian.
-------------------
On another note about the Intel Museum Activity posted yesterday , make sure you register. Call (408) 765- 0503. They have limited space and they do not take walk-ins. There might have been some confusion as a friend of mine said she was going to go there this Saturday and didn't know she had to register. Also I just found out that the minimum age is 9 years. But I have registered my son who is 8 and I think they want the kids to be independant. As long as they are close to 9 years it should be okay, that's my opinion.

Thanks to a friend of mine --here's an amazing Carter's deal. She has used the code and it worked for her. If you find any interesting deals or other activities let me know. I will post it so that all of us can take advantage of it.

Paper Bag Art,Intel Musuem event for kids,Cosmetics deal,

My daughter has a week of teacher appreciation. Each day is a different theme and gift. Wednesday is Fruit day, so all the kids will bring fruits for the teachers to enjoy. Keeping that in mind, I thought of decorating a brown paper bag to carry an apple .

What you need

A Brown Paper Bag
Leaves, Flowers
Ribbon or a twine
Scissors
Glue Stick

Lets get started:

Glue the leaves or flowers all over the bag on both sides. It is very easy for the kids to do and most of all not messy.

There are two ways to tie the bag . You can make holes in the top of the bag with scissors or a punch . Then insert the twine/ribbon through the holes and tie it . Or you could cover only half the bag with leaves and then tie the bag in the middle. I put a card with the poem from yesterdays post and an apple in the bag for each teacher.

Like my daughter says ," All Done!!!"

For all in the Bay area, CA ---

I am not sure about the minimum age requirement. But I did register both my kids for this Saturday , so above 6 years should be okay.

Teacher Poems, Oriental Trading Company Deal

For Teachers Appreciation this week , I thought what better way to say thanks to your teacher than with poems.Poems are the perfect means for saying something special to someone special. One of the ways to show respect for your teachers is to give them Teacher's Day poems. They will be treasured by your teachers. You could include these with a gift or the bigger kids could use the poems to make a card. There are many teachers poems available, below are a few of my favorites.

Poems to go with a teacher gift

For teaching children lessons,
to help them as they grow,
Let this gift remind you,
You're the best teacher we know!

---------------------------
I chose this special present because I wanted you to know,
That I'm grateful for your hard work in helping me to grow.
For your constant understanding and for always being there,
To tell me I can do it and to show me that you care!

WHOSE CHILD IS THIS?
Author Unknown

"Whose child is this?" I asked one day
Seeing a little one out at play"Mine", said the parent with a tender smile
"Mine to keep a little while
To bathe his hands and comb his hair
To tell him what he is to wear
To prepare him that he may always be good
And each day do the things he should"

"Whose child is this?" I asked again
As the door opened and someone came in
"Mine", said the teacher with the same tender smile
"Mine, to keep just for a little while
To teach him how to be gentle and kind
To train and direct his dear little mind
To help him live by every rule
And get the best he can from school"

"Whose child is this?" I ask once more
Just as the little one entered the door
"Ours" said the parent and the teacher as they smiled
And each took the hand of the little child
"Ours to love and train together
Ours this blessed task forever."

---------------------------

Wonderful Teacher

With a special gift for learning
And with a heart that deeply cares,
You add a lot of love
To everything you share,
And even though
You mean a lot,
You'll never know how much,
For you helped
To change the world
Through every life you touched.
You sparked the creativity
In the students whom you taught,
And helped them strive for goals
That could not be bought,
You are such a special teacher
That no words can truly tell
However much you're valued
For the work you do so well.

Homemade Chocolate Lolipops , Kids books deal with free shipping

This week is Teacher Appreciation week. Personally I think that teaching is the most noble, honorable and hardest job there is. Good , passionate teachers can inspire a love for learning in a child's life. I have been fortunate this year that both my kids have dedicated and passionate teachers .
I wanted to share a couple of ideas for gifts for teachers. Yesterday we made Chocolate Lollipops at home for my daughters teachers. It is a very simple and kid friendly project.

What you need:

Bag of Chocolate Chips (Found in any grocery store)
Lollipop Mold ( Michael's or any hobby store carries them)
Lollipop Sticks
Wrapping Paper
Ribbon

Directions:

Pour the chips in a bowl. Microwave them until they melt (about 2 minutes). Stir the melted chocolate chips until smooth. Insert the Lollipop sticks in the slot provided in the mold. Pour the melted chocolate in the mold to cover the stick. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes. The Lollipops easily pop out of the mold. Then wrap them with in any decorative wrapping paper and tie it with a ribbon. You can also add a little card to the lollipop.
